Check out his music and read on to learn more about this talented artist...
- Tell us about your upbringing. Did you always know you wanted to be a musician?
Well, for a long time I wanted to be a superhero. I would tie a towel around my neck and jump off the couch, hoping to fly. After you hit the floor several hundred times you go to the next best thing TV game show contestant. And when THAT doesn't work out...you start writing songs about it.
- Your songs are so fun and catchy – where do you get inspiration for your lyrics and music?
Thanks! So are your questions! I don't really know why I write what I write. Its sort of like tweeting to music. I have things in my head that (for some reason) I think other people might enjoy. I'm sure it has a lot to do with wanting attention.
- How do you connect with your ever-growing fan base?
I am SO thankful for everyone who listens to me. I try to answer as many comments as humanly possible. I reply on Twitter, I try to answer EVERY YouTube and Facebook comment. Life doesn't last forever, the fact that people want to spend a few of their hard earned minutes listening to my music means the world to me.
- Have you ever gone on tour or do you perform around your home town? Tell us about your live shows.
Both. I've been around US quite a bit. I want to get to the UK sooo badly. Hope to get back out on the road soon. Being on the road is tough. Sometimes no one shows up and you make good friends with a bartender and any dogs that happen to be in the bar that night (true story). I'm not famous, I've never had a song in a movie or anything like that so people only know me through Torrents and Youtube...I don't get 50,000 people chasing me through the street...but when I'm home its a little different. I have the best, funniest, interactive fans anyone could ever ask for. They are as much a part of the show as I am and I love them very much. Now I just need a million more of them.
- Name one thing you're most proud of and one thing you regret.
Recently people have been calling me their favorite artist. Which kinda blows me away. I'm just a dude...I just write down whatever I think is clever and sing it to the best of my ability. Other than that, I'm sort of an ass. People (on YouTube especially) say it feels like we are best friends without ever having met me. I'm proud of that. More than anything else. You can't fake that.
I regret eating an entire sausage pizza last night.
- Congrats on completing your second album – you did a fantastic job! Tell us a little about it.
Look at how nice you are! Thank you!
My new 3 song EP "Detachment Kipper Print"... sorta sounds like a bad-ass Katy Perry record...only with Russel Brand singing instead of Katy : )
- Your music on jamendo has a great indie pop/rock sound. Do you like to perform any other genres of music? What styles of music do you like to listen to?
Oh man. Me and the guys I play with are trying to really define "indie-pop" or "peppermint sex rock" as we like to call it. Whether I'm writing by myself or with my friends Jim McLoughlin and James Thompson, we never really have a genre in mind. We just kinda play what we would like to hear. I LOVE writing comedy songs and even rap song. I work with a rap group call YouSuck out of Brooklyn, NY once in a while...You should check them out.
- Have you ever performed in a band or have you always been a solo musician?
At this point it is whatever the situation calls for. If I'm playing a 50/50 comedy/acoustic show, where I get to talk to the audience...it's usually just me. If we are playing a festival or if someone invites us onto a rock show I bring my band (Mike Falzone & the Peppermint Trick). Both are fun...one is just louder.
- What do you like to do when you're not performing or writing music?
I like to eat Chex Mix and Call of Duty. Ya know...like a real man. I try to date once in a while...but that usually gets in the way of the other 2 things.
- What is one thing you'd like your fans on jamendo to know about you?
I want them to know how grateful I am for even reading this! I also want them to know that I'm not some mystical, music making entity. I'm a person you can reach out and talk to, share funny videos, and make up secret handshakes with.
