Copyright term extension: telling it like it is to the European Parliament!
Following yesterday’s post, here is a video of the speech Becky Hogge, executive director of the Open Rights Group organization, gave in front of members of the European Parliament late January. She didn’t mince words to let them know European citizens would certainly not be the ones to profit from a term extension from 50 to 95 years!

In total agreement with you. There should be a campaign to scrap copyright legislation and replace with with the Creative Commons framework IMHO!

@Alex: Sorry to be a (C) pedant but Creative Commons is built upon the copyright regime so by scrapping the legislation - as you suggest - you’d also scrap the licenses and the burgeoning sharing culture. That said, i fully agree the international legislative framework needs radical surgery in order to operate - as its intended - as an engine for innovation and creativity, rather than a crutch for failing business.
