Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Siae, the Italian collecting society, has accepted to start an Italian version of the Dutch pilot project leaded by Creative Commons Netherlands and Buma/Stemra, in collaboration with Free hardware foundation and Liberius. The project counts several partners like members of Frontiere Digitali network: Jamendo, Wikimedia Italia, Beatpick, Fiordiluna icecreams (the first Italian organic-fair-shop that diffuses copyleft music without paying a collecting society), …

Jamendo is always glad to support innovative initiatives in the sector of the free music and we hope that other countries will follow the example of Italy and the Netherlands.

Jamendo en “La opinión de Málaga”

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Creative Commons launch day in luxembourg

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Last Monday the 15th the Creative Commons launch day took place in Luxembourg.

Jamendo has been deeply involved in this project and distributed a CD compilation of 12 artists who publish their Creative Commons music on Jamendo.
We have been honored by the presence of John Buckman (CEO Magnatune), Paul Keller who leads a pilot project with the Buma/Sterma in the Netherlands, and Patrick Peiffer ( Lead Creative Commons Luxembourg), and Laurent Kratz ( CEO Jamendo )

During the presentations, speakers and attendees discussed the future and the impact of the Creative Commons licences on cultural works in general and specially on music. Regarding the results of the debates, it seems that, even if we still have a lot to do, artists can be confident in the new distribution model that jamendo and Creative Commons promote.
