Jamendo reaches 100.000 members and announces the creation of BuzzTeams for artists!
We are extremely pleased to announce that there are now more than 100.000 jamendo members in the world! Thank you so much!
The growth of the community is impressive, it has doubled in only 4 months! Also impressive is the quality of the albums we receive each day. So once again, congratulations!

Now, we feel it is time to look ahead and wonder:
How best can we all take our million fingers (!) and spread free music even further?
We have several ideas to do that (your own ones are welcome too!), the first of which is the creation of the BuzzTeams on jamendo, effective immediately!
A BuzzTeam is the online equivalent of a Street Team. It is a group of jamendo members that have one thing in common: they like an artist on Jamendo and they want to spread the word about him.
There are several ways to join a BuzzTeam:
- Star an album of the artist
- Recommend the artist or one of its albums to your friends (you can even do that by mail if your friend isn’t registered on Jamendo yet)
- Write a review and publish it on your blog
- Publish an embeddable player widget on your blog or website.
The members of the BuzzTeams are ranked by the number of successful recommendations they made (the number of new people that discovered the artist thanks to them).
For instance, the BuzzTeam of the artist Rob Costlow already has 1000+ members! We started to count successful recommendations this morning and since then, troll69 has made the most recommendations (44)… Way to go!
We hope you will enjoy joining the BuzzTeam of your favourite artists to help them become more popular. We also hope the most active BuzzTeam users will get free concert tickets from the artists ;-) Feel free to send us ideas!

Nice work Jamendo! I’m going to join your BuzzTeam and see if I can get more of my readers to listen to artists featured on your site.
