Some users have been complaining lately that as we increase the number of album releases every day, it gets more and more difficult to browse through the new albums. We’ll be addressing this issue this week with a few new features and improvements.

The first is “Friends”. It is a powerful new way to recommend an album you like to many people at once: just add them to your friends list on Jamendo and hit the “Recommend to my friends on Jamendo” link on the album pages. They will receive it and will be able to forward it to their own friends.

With this feature and a little “network effect” you can expect some albums to spread very quickly if they are recommended by key people in the community.

Another way to use this feature is to just add all the friends you have on Jamendo and just wait for them to recommend you some great albums ;-)

The second feature we’re making official today is the “Playlist Widgets”. As you know you can make playlists on Jamendo with our popup player. Now you can also export them to you blog or website using our embeddable player!

How to do that? Just go to your profile page on Jamendo (http://www.jamendo.com/user/YOUR_USERNAME/) and you will have the code to embed the player.

There is also a custom playlist for all the favourite albums of a user. As an example, here is my own little Jamendo player, loaded with my favourite albums:

Quelques uns d’entre vous nous on fait part ces derniers temps de difficultés croissantes à parcourir efficacement les albums parmi les nouvelles sorties qui sont de plus en plus nombreuses chaque jour. Nous allons remédier à ce problème cette semaine avec quelques améliorations par rapport au système actuel.

La première est les “Amis”. C’est une méthode simple et efficace pour recommander un album qui vous plait à beaucoup de personnes en même temps : ajoutez-les à vos amis (depuis leurs pages de profil sur jamendo) et cliquez sur le nouveau lien  “Recommander à mes amis sur Jamendo” qui apparaît désormais sur toutes les pages d’album. Ainsi tous vos amis recevront cet album et pourront à leur tour le recommander à leur propres amis s’il leur a plu.

Avec cette fonction qui utilise les réseaux sociaux vous pouvez vous attendre à voir des albums devenir populaires très rapidement s’il sont recommandés par des personnes influentes dans la communauté.

Une autre façon intéressante d’utiliser cette fonction est d’ajouter tous vos amis existants sur Jamendo et de juste attendre qu’ils vous recommandent de bons albums ;-)

La deuxième nouveauté officielle à partir d’aujourd’hui est la sortie des “Widgets pour Playlists”. Comme vous le savez vous pouvez faire des playlists sur Jamendo avec notre player popup. Désormais vous pouvais aussi les exporter sur votre site web ou votre blog à l’aide de notre widget!

Comment le faire ? Il vous suffit d’aller sur votre page de profil sur Jamendo (http://www.jamendo.com/user/VOTRE_PSEUDO/) et vous pourrez copier/coller le code de votre widget.

Il y a aussi une playlist spéciale pour les albums favoris de chaque utilisateur. Voici par exemple mon widget Jamendo, avec la playlist de mes albums favoris :

Depuis l’ouverture de notre nouvelle interface de traduction communautaire, nous recevons de plus en plus de demandes de volontaires pour traduire jamendo dans de nouvelles langues.

Nous sommes très agréablement surpris par cette effervescence et allons faire notre maximum pour que tout se passe pour le mieux : le récent succès des traductions en Italien, Polonais et Portuguais a montré que la nouvelle interface de traduction était très simple à utiliser !

Nous vous rappellons aussi que tout le monde peut contribuer à la traduction depuis la page “Communauté”, ou nous envoyer un mail pour demander d’ouvrir une traduction dans une nouvelle langue.

As a result I just opened the translations for Finnish, Russian, Bulgarian, Norwegian, Turkish and Romanian. You can help translate in these languages from our Community page.

We would be interested in having some examples of other successful community translation efforts on the web like this one so that we can continue improving our process!

A few days ago we released our new embeddable player. It had only one width: 300 pixels.

Thanks to your feedback we are happy to announce the release of a second one, with a smaller width (130px). The code for both of them is available on all the album pages on Jamendo. This one will be easier to embed in your blog columns.

Sylvain met Christophe Ducamp at the BarCampParis8 and after a few minutes of evangelization, he decided to add a bunch of microformats to Jamendo. Here are those we support now :

• rel=license: we have been supporting this one from the beginning thanks to Creative Commons ;-)
• rel=tags: added on all the music tag links
• rel=payment: added to all the donation links
• hReview: added to all the reviews
• hCalendar: added to all the concert pages

Thanks to our outstanding team of portuguese translators (André and Alexandre) we are pleased to announce the release of the Portuguese translation!
